Yunhe co-initiates the China–Africa Agricultural Quality Improvement Initiative to build a new ecosystem for agricultural modernization

At the “China–Africa Quality Infrastructure Interconnection” themed event of the 4th China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo, Hangzhou Yunhe Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd., as one of the core initiators, joined government agencies, social organizations, enterprises, and universities from China and Africa—50 organizations in total—to jointly launch the China–Africa Agricultural Quality Improvement Initiative. Centered on “innovation-driven, standards-led, quality-supported, and shared win–win,” the initiative aims to promote the modernization of agriculture in China and Africa through technological collaboration, standards co-building, and talent cultivation, injecting new momentum into global food security.

Background: Responding to National Strategy and Deepening China–Africa Cooperation

The Expo themed “Acting Together, Pursuing Modernization” is a key measure to implement the outcomes of the 2024 Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. The initiative actively responds to President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on “building a new all-weather China–Africa community with a shared future,” focusing on improving agricultural quality and industrial collaboration. Leveraging its technological accumulation and international collaboration experience in smart agriculture, Yunhe serves as an important technological driver behind the initiative.

Core Actions: Multi-dimensional Measures to Shape a New Agricultural Ecosystem

Focusing on sustainable development of agriculture in China and Africa, the initiative proposes eight priority areas, highly aligned with Yunhe’s strategy. Four key actions include:

• Technology Enablement
Integrate IoT, AI, and remote sensing technologies to build a one-stop agricultural quality infrastructure platform for China and Africa, improving production efficiency and resource utilization.

• Standards Co-building
Establish a China–Africa agricultural standards database; advance grading, traceability, and certification systems for agricultural products; and help position African specialty products with stronger global competitiveness.

• Joint Talent Development
Launch vocational training programs and student innovation competitions (e.g., the China–Africa University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held at the Expo), accelerating the development of local agricultural technology and management talent.

• Industrial Collaboration
Promote the establishment of a China–Africa agricultural industry investment fund, focusing on smart agriculture demonstration projects and the globalization of ag-tech firms, fostering deep integration among industry, academia, and research.

Yunhe’s Role: A Pioneer in Smart Agriculture

As a domestic leader in smart agriculture, Yunhe Intelligence focuses on independent R&D and global delivery of agricultural digital solutions. Its core capabilities include:

• Agricultural IoT (AIoT): Real-time field data collection and remote control.
• Agricultural big data and digital twins: Decision support for precision crop management.
• Intelligent fertigation systems: Optimized irrigation and nutrition to improve resource efficiency.
• End-to-end product traceability: Ensuring food safety and brand trust.

Yunhe has delivered significant results across smart greenhouses, seedling factories, and digital agriculture factories—providing a solid technology foundation for implementing the initiative. At the launch event, Yunhe Intelligence CEO Yuan Bingqiang remarked:

“Africa has vast agricultural potential, while China has accumulated rich experience in smart agriculture and industrial integration. Yunhe will continue to leverage our strengths in IoT, big data, and intelligent equipment to build an intelligent agricultural ecosystem with African partners—helping agriculture move from ‘yield growth’ to ‘quality uplift’ and contributing Chinese wisdom to global food security.”

Outlook: From Initiative to Scalable Implementation

To ensure adoption and impact, participating organizations will form the China–Africa Agricultural Quality Collaborative Innovation Alliance to drive key projects:

• Demonstration Projects: Establish smart farm pilots in key African countries; promote water-saving irrigation, precision fertilization, intelligent pest/disease recognition, and other green, efficient technologies.
• Technical Publications: Co-publish an annual “China–Africa Agriculture” technical compendium to share standardized outcomes and best practices.
• Industry–Academia–Research Collaboration: Co-build agricultural intelligence labs with African universities to localize and transform core technologies.
